Third Sunday of Lent (March 15, 2020)

Sunday SocialMadonna and Child

Our next monthly potluck social will be held after Mass on April 5 in the Msgr. Thomas H. Smith Social Hall.

Diocesan Announcement

In response to Governor Wolfe’s announcement, Bishop Gainer, in union with the Bishops of Pennsylvania, has dispensed the faithful of the Diocese of Harrisburg from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. This is effective immediately until further notice. All regularly scheduled Masses will remain open to the public for those who wish to attend. Those still wishing to attend Mass are welcome, but are asked to be careful in their contact with others. The Diocese advises those who are currently ill, the elderly, and those with a compromised immune system to remain at home. Bishop Gainer has made this decision out of great concern for the health and well-being of the faithful, their families, and our clergy given the current coronavirus outbreak. The suspension of the Sign of Peace, the distribution of the Precious Blood in the Chalice, and the use of holy water fonts, remains in effect. Additionally, at this time, the preferred method of reception of Holy Communion is in “in the hand”. No one is forbidden from receiving Holy Communion on the tongue, but please remember to open your mouth wide, extend your tongue, and wait for reception of the Host. For more information about these changes, please see our parish website or the Diocesan website, or St. Joseph Church Facebook page. Thank you.
