Second Sunday of Advent (December 4, 2022)

Monthly Potluck Social

Madonna and Child

Our next monthly potluck social will be held after Mass today. Please bring a dish to share!  Crockpots welcome!  A good rule of thumb is to bring twice as much food as is typically required to feed your own family.

Mass for the Immaculate Conception

There will be a Mass offered at 12 noon on Thursday, December 8 for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a Holy Day of Obligation.

Rorate Caeli Mass

A Rorate Caeli Mass will be held on Saturday, December 10th at 6 a.m. This is a traditional Advent devotion wherein the Votive Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary for Advent is offered just before dawn. Accompanied by candlelight in an otherwise dark church, the interplay of light and darkness speak to the meaning of Advent and the coming of the Light of the world.

The Mass takes its title, Rorate Caeli, from the first words of the Introit, which are from Isaiah 45:8:

Rorate, caeli, desuper, et nubes pluant justum, aperiatur terra, et germinet Salvatorem.

Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the just: let the earth be opened and bud forth a Saviour.

We hope you can join us to honor Our Lady in Advent at one of the most beautiful Masses of the year!

Confessions in the Traditional Rite

Going forward, on Saturdays from 4:00-4:45 pm at St Joseph’s, if you go to Confession behind the screen in either confessional, the traditional form will automatically be used.

This is in addition to Confessions that are heard every Sunday from 12:15-12:45 pm before the Traditional Latin Mass.
