Last Sunday after Pentecost (November 21, 2021)

Pontifical Mass with Bishop Ronald Gainer

Madonna and ChildBishop Ronald Gainer of the Diocese of Harrisburg will be joining us for a Pontifical Mass at the Throne on Sunday, November 21 at 1 pm. A potluck reception will follow in the social hall. Please bring a dish to share! Crockpots welcome. A good rule of thumb is to bring twice as much food as is typically required to feed your own family. We look forward to seeing you there!

Etiquette for Bishop Gainer’s Visit

Below are some helpful reminders for the protocol when a bishop visits:

  • As Bishop Gainer processes into and out of church, genuflect and bless yourself
  • The proper way to address Bishop Gainer is “Your Excellency”
  • When greeting Bishop Gainer, kneel on your left knee and kiss his ring as sign of respect for his office. If kneeling would be awkward or impossible, bow at the waist and kiss his ring.
  • When he enters the social hall, please stand and remain standing until he invites everyone to sit.  Men should remove their hats in his presence

Rorate Caeli Mass

A Rorate Caeli Mass will be held on the First Saturday of December, Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 6 a.m. This is a traditional Advent devotion wherein the Votive Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary for Advent is offered just before dawn. Accompanied by candlelight in an otherwise dark church, the interplay of light and darkness speak to the meaning of Advent and the coming of the Light of the world.

Our first Rorate Caeli Mass was offered in 2019 by Fr. Olkowski.  We  are grateful to Fr. Tcheou for restoring this tradition once again and hope you can join us!
